If you're looking for one of the best racing drone discounts around, this DJI Black Friday 2021 deal on the FPV Combo can't be beat.
Looking to fly away and escape this holiday season, if only vicariously through a tiny drone? You're in luck, thanks to the continued bounty that is Black Friday.
On Amazon, a DJI FPV Combo is now just $999(Opens in a new window) , a $300 discount. For this sub-$1,000 price, you get the DJI drone, a traditional two-handed video game-style remote controller, and a pair of goggles that serve up a video feed powered by an external battery pack.
The DJI FPV Combo is a racing drone; its manual flight mode can get up to 87mph, so newbies may want to consider something on the slower side. Our own Jim Fisher declined to give the DJI FPV a full rating given his lack of experience with FPV racers, but drone enthusiasts with a need for speed should scoop this deal up now. Still, you can toggle between Normal and Sport modes, with Normal mode only going up to 31mph.
In his hands-on time with the FPV Combo, however, Jim found it to be a "sleek little drone [with] the style of a race car," thanks to its red-tipped propeller blades. "For whatever reason, adding a bit of red makes everything look a little faster," he says.
What about those goggles? Jim found the video to be "crisp and vibrant" while the headset was comfortable to wear with glasses. If VR headsets in general tend to make you feel sick, though, you might want to forgo the FPV Combo.
If you're ready to race, get the DJI FPV Combo for $999(Opens in a new window) while you can, down from $1,299.
